Is it properly vented? That doesn't sound right. I've seen aquariums over built in gas fireplaces. There is no doubt these things give off heat in all directions, but the idea of the gas fireplace is to be able to use the space around it.

It'* got a vent that comes right out the back, and a little above. If I get down low in front of the fireplace, I can see out through it... well, I can see the back side of the grate on the outlet.
