The hubby and i finally got around to finishing the entertainment center in the basement.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you NEED to upgrade those speakers 
I have the same ones for my computer (albeit the 2.1 version) and I just can't imagine being sufficient for 5.1 HT duty
I've heard some people have had great success with both programs, but the people who have SageTV said it'* worth the price...

Looking at the Logitech Z 5500, as soon as my tax return comes in.
The guy who built my system use to run Beyond TV but said Sage has more options.
