Called the phone company again since I hven't received a new modem yet. The last guy I talked to drop the ball aparently. The lady I talked with this time was very helpful, and explaind what how the other guy messed up. The good news is not only am I getting a new modem now, but since my DSL service is so damn old, I can upgrade it, and for cheap. For just $3 a month more (and the cost of the modem I just bought), I can go from 640k to 1.5mb DSL. Guess alot has changed in the last 5 years since I have had DSL... lol

prevx is pretty cool. i run it on mine with no trouble at all. it doesnt actually look for the viruses and stuff to kill, it looks at stuff that a virus might mess with. it also serves as a pretty good firewall <i use that term loosely>, and also will lock down the system <prevent changes to vital areas> if the program were to get killed. the only down side i have had with it is that you have to disable it whenever you want to install something, otherwise you will be clicking yes for the rest of your life, it is that good. give it a shot! its free!

We're running on RoadRunner here and the external modem has a great firewall built in, plus we have the Windows firewall turned on, AND we have Zone Alarm with THEIR firewall, AND Norton Anti-Virus, AND a whole list of other crap.

The only time we ever had someone attempt to hack us, and got past the modem firewall, Zone Alarm blocked them, traced them, and popped up a window to let us know and ask us whether we wanted to report the hack.
I told it "NO" and gave the address to a malicious little friend of mine, and the next day some hacker down in Australia somewhere was wondering why the hell his computer wouldn't stop showing barnyard **** videos.

SSEi95, Found this program last week on the site below. Give it a try. A work of caution, Do not try to fix anything in you log but post your log to the forum. You will have to register. There are alot of experts there that will view your log results and will offer advice on what to get rid of. Create a new folder on your C drive and name it C:\HJT and download the file there. You can D/L the file on the left side of the page. It also explains how to to copy and paste your log to the forum. I submitted two logs and both of my systems are clean. I also run AdAware SE and Spybot *&D. Here is the link.

I already have a bunch of apps to kill suspicious apps and stuff on PC'*. I've been doing Desktop Support for about 6 years, so cleaning the PC isn't a problem, just a hassel. The problem I've been having isn't spyware or anything like that, but rather someone (generally from overseas) uploading pirated movies / apps to my HD and then trying to share them using my PC (WAREZ type stuff). I know I can lock down the PC with apps and firewalls, but I don't want to deal with it at all. I already have other firewalls in place after the DSL PC I have setup. Besides, I plan on doing some more remodeling and don't want to leave a spot for a rather large desktop PC when I can hide a small DSL modem almost anywhere.

Oh, and I've been using HJT for quite a while at home and work. Works great!!!!

Ya need to download a bunch of teletubbie episodes and free downloadable games and replace all the files they are uploading. That'll make 'em real happy...
