But, I'm with you, I pretty much do the same. Letting the tank get bone dry is hard on the pump.The 91 Bonnie

Now when I was going through North Carolina( Gotta love standstill roadwork ).... My fuel gage was on the line(E) and I still had to drive about 20 miles to find a gas station... I had to put 17.2 gallons into an 18 gallon tank...lol( I have never repeated that LMAO ) The below pic to this day still freaks me out...lol

I was thinking about this thread on the way to work this mrning (100 miles and just down to 3/4 tank) and I remembered the most f'ed up gauges on any car I've ever owned.
My Sr year of HS I bought a 66 Beetle. Later my dad and I picked up a 64 as a parts car. Me, being an "adventurous" kid with his first car in his name came up with a "great" idea. I took the gas tank from the 64 and stacked it on top of the original tank in the 66. Set 'em up to be one, big, 2 compartment tank. But I only used the gas gauge on the bottom tank. I could go up to two weeks before the gauge ever left full...
