Default Computer help

I give up :(

I've been trying for weeks to figure it out myself, but Bill Gates has defeated me.

Can anyone give me detailed, idiot proof instructions on how to convince my wireless laptop that there is a printer connected to the network.

PC is running XP Pro and connected to a wireless modem (WRT54G)
Laptop is running Vista Home basic

The laptop is connecting to the network, it will access the internet but it will not access the shared files on the PC and it will not share it'* files with the PC as well as not recognizing any printer.

I had no problem with the old laptop, I could do anything I wanted with that one, but it was running XP.

I seem to have to Type in the IP of the Actual Puter to find it in the search Tab... Then I can pull what ever I want from the XP Machine with the Vista Lappy

I'd love to know how to work it all out as well..

Hopefully someone will be kind enough to share the secret with us. It was so easy when both were using XP.

Carefull!!

Last time I started calling down Vista, I was soundly put in my place.

"it'* not the operating system, it'* the operator"

And, to an extent, I agree. However I'm thinking that Vista was not made to be easy for the average user to master.

Yes, I have done this, but the vista machine will not recognize the printer as being there.
