Personally, I alway thought the 300C was the alternative to say..Cadillac, where as the Charger competed with the Impala SS'* and now G8'* of the world.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 300c is marketed as a "luxury" car. The Charger is more of a direct competitor of the G8s. I think it was a very even match, but I was sad to see no Germans included... Now, a G8 vs. 5-series battle

The G8'* quickest acceleration runs were actually made with the transmission in Sport mode but left to shift itself. With the blast from zero to 60 mph taking only 5.4 seconds and the quarter-mile flashing by in just 13.7 seconds at 104 mph, this is a stupendously quick car.
In fact, the G8 GT isn't just quicker than the Charger R/T, but nearly as quick as the much more expensive 425-hp Charger SRT8. That beast'* 6.1-liter Hemi sped it to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds and ripped up the quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds at 105 mph.
pending numerous test drives, i might have a new front runner for my next car. . .

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention! My uncle has a 300c! Yeah, blast to drive and all, but it'* on its 5th transmission (56k miles...)
