Default Cell Phone Suggestions

I hate to admit it but my phone is so old that I'm one of those people Cingular is going to start charging $5/month next year if they don't upgrade. My plan expired in 2001 so I've just been month-to-month and can upgrade at anytime. Just haven't had much reason to. I'm liking the Sony Ericsson Z525a but am open to suggestions. I can get it for $19.99 after rebates. I just want a decent phone that has nice clarity and will last as long as my blue brick has.

Thanks.

if they wont give you a new phone for free after being with them so long I would haggle with them until they do.

There may be some free ones for him, but most of the time they aren't so good.

The only way he might be able to get a free is to say that he thinking of switching...
They he might get transfered to the "save" team

But cingular doesn't have as good renew Deals at verizon. But i like Cingulars Phones and Service better

Double the E815 love...

1 downfall of the phone is the darn vibrate for a ringer. When I'm at work, it can be on the desk in front of me..and I can't tell when it'* ringing.

Nope cingular doesn't carry the E815 :( if they did, i would have it

Heres a good place to look at phone details and specs

Far as phones for Cingular with the best reception, that would be Nokia
Nokia'* phones somehow get better reception on the GSM network then other brands.

I have good luck haggling with Cingular, but I'm on a corporate business plan (big discounts on service and phones because I work for hp, even though it'* a personal phone).

I've had better luck with reception with Motorola phones on GSM than Nokia, LG, and Samsung.

I've hqad a few LGs, and like them. I've also had really good luck with my Razr. Much more aftermarket support (official and unofficial) for the Moto'*...

I can get a couple for free but for $19.99, I upgrade a little. No biggee. Yah, maybe I should haggle with them. They want $18 for an upgrade fee on top of the phone. That irks me. I've been with them since '99.

say you will go elsewhere if you don't get what you want for the plan and to get rid of the upgrade fee. As for phones do NOT get the motorola v710 what a piece of crap I got a LG now and I love it

Ha! Worked like a charm. I simply told 'Tyler' I was looking to upgrade phones but didn't care for the $18 upgrade fee since I've been with them for 7 years and how about we drop that. He 'understood' my pain and credited my account $18. Nice! I've always been a firm believer in asking for what you want. Worst that can happen is you don't get it.
