Yes the 1997-2003 Malibus had one motor and that was the 3100 SFI with 170hp I beleive, my friends dad had one for a few years (3 to be exact) got it as an 2002 in Oct. 2001 was a loaded LS with Gold Package w/leather power drivers seat and a moonroof! I think that had more pick-up than the 2003 Impala he traded in for in Aug. 2003! Good car tho, and had a good powertrain! Overall I have been impressed with my 3400 SFI in my Impala Sedan! But driving the Impala is ho-hum and when I drive the SLE it is like driving a real car, no ho-hum here its fun and performs better (alot faster due to gearing) and handles so much tighter! I think it could be an autocross canidate someday! The Impalas tire give unplesant road noise when you turn hard the Bonnie SLE just bites! God I love that car! Is the suspesion on the SLE and GXP the same? Or is it that the SE and SLE share which one guys?

I love my GA (duh!). Trust me, I'd admit if it was underpowered or otherwise yucky-its not. Did the car you drove have the I4 or the V6 in it?

fixed

hehe, thanks!
There is nothing wrong with the SE. Just trying to pick on you. Although, I do have to say that the I4 is underpowered in the car and the fact you can't get a V6 with a 5speed is a big bummer. I'd probably have a white 98 GA GT if they had the V6/5spd (I know, older body style)

And as for the new body style, my ex-gf wanted one just like yours and she used to refer to it as the "boob" car cause of the two humps in the dash over the gauges. Said it looked like it had *****.

I would have to say I hat dodge neon'* I owned one that thiing was always broke longest it ever went without breakdown was like 8000 miles,. Now bonnievilles as running close to 20,000 with out new break down.the bonnie has 162k on it. Alll my post were problem the car had when I got it. One I will say neon had some power, but didn't understand dodge llogic on the car. Front had pwer every and the back power nothing. One thing I think that would help the bonnieville if the wodd used real wood or at least better looking plastic wood.

Like this.. The only thing I don't like about this car is that it has the fake shaker hood with "3.1 Injected" on it. If you're going to show off the type of engine, it better be big! This only has 135hp. My Sebring with a weak tranny has more power than this.

Yep, and I never had anything against Chryslers. I always liked the styling and design too. I remember when I was in high school and the 300M just came out, I wanted one so bad. Yes, over the years I've heard that their trannies are not as reliable, but that'* really all I've heard that worried me when I was looking at this car. But since I don't race it it will last. And I don't have the 2.7 so that'* another thing I don't have to worry about.

If I ever have any horror stories about my Chrysler experience I will let you guys know, but I doubt this will turn out to be a problem car. I don't think Chrysler makes crappy cars. Every car company has its problems.

Now there'* a lot cars I don't like, like Ford Probes, Dodge Neons (not because they are Chrysler) Geo/Chevy Prizms, Taurus, Aztecs, etc are among the top of my list.

Ooh...me too. The guy that hit me last year was driving a Probe. And what kind of name for a car is that?! Makes me think of alien experiments or something.

I probably will do my best never to own a minivan, just because I don't like vans. But if I ever did get one, it would probably be a Chrysler.

Chrysler vans have a rep for dropping trannys...my cousin had two of them in a row and lost the tranny of each within 100,000 miles. His present car (a Malibu I think) is going strong after many more miles than that so it isn't his driving.

*sigh* owners bias I suppose, people will inherently support what they buy, however if you compare both manufacturers side to side, I be mechanical issues will lineup comparitively speaking.

I'll just keep driving my Oldsmobile for now

I don't think it is just that (though I admit to a GM bias). I like GM, but I am currently looking at an Infinity and an Altima as possibilities to buy instead of a new Bonnie. I need to test drive both before making a final decision. If I had more money I would be getting an Audi, Mercedes, or a BMW. I have nothing against cars other than GMs, but I know a few people who have had Chryslers and every one lost the tranny or had it die on them around 100,000 miles...one had a Lebaron, one had a Sebring, and one had 2 different vans. That record speaks volumes to me.
