Weren't there stress cracks in it a couple years ago? Something was majorly wrong with that bridge for it to fall down. Something was overlooked or ignored IMO.

Still wonder if the resurfacing put too much stress???
The wife already had a fear of bridges, I am sure this will help.

Very tragic for all affected by this.
when it was built 40 years ago, it was said to be just adequate for current traffic. It would have been nice it it had at least given some warning groans, cracks , etc. watching the video, the damn thing just fell.
From what I saw on the news last night...

In 2004 the Bridge was inspected and passed...

In 2006 It was inspected, and they found stress fractures in the support beams.. One would think this would have been a sign..

I feel for all of the people involved and my heart goes out to the families that have lost loved ones due to this... But the oversight of knowing this bridge has stress fractures, and left unrepaired or what seems to be uninvestigated is beyond me...

I am happy to see that our BC family members are all ok. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the other families who were not so lucky.
