hmm. I've heard of no shrtages of the MS XBOX 360 HD-DVD player that also uses the blueray laser. BTW this is a great drive to add HD-DVD to your 360 or COMPUTER for only $200.

both are blue and at 405nm. Sure beats me why one would have a shortage over the other.

keep in mind that the laser is necessary for the PS3, whereas the its an add-on for the 360, that as far as i know is not very popular, and also has been available a long time. It looks like the manufacturers just could not keep up with the demand of the volume required for a major game system launch. I wouldnt be surprised if there have already been more PS3s sold than 360 hd-dvd players

meh, i wasnt in it for the money (was only the 20gig hd). plus like i said, i was having problems with it and i didnt want to burden anyone else with them. there were people waiting for the Wii when i took it back and they looked at me in disbelief. i also got a lot of weird looks in that 20 foot walk over to customer service... thought someone might try and bust a cap.

Buy a Wii.

PS3 is just too expensive...I'd get an X360 for gears of war, though.
