Default Bottom Line: 360 vs PS3

Does anyone have any thoughts on this compairison? I bought a PS3 on release day but returned it on Saturday because of some type of "video noise." No matter which way I connected it to our TV'*(tried HDMI and Component video), I got this annoying humm from the TV. I played a little 360 at Toys 'r Us earlier today and said to myself "Dang, this ain't too bad." XBox has most of the games that I want out right now and I've heard next to zero problems about the system. At the same time, I'm sure that Sony will fix any problems and the PS3 will be a pretty damn good system as well. So do I wait? Or do I just run and buy a 360?

I would say get A Xbox 360. Sony doesn't have enough stock of the PS3 to keep it on the store shelfs so You would probably have to wait till Janurary to get it.

for me, the system would all come down to online gameplay. if the PS3s online service is as good or better than the 360, then its the winner, however, im a Xbox guy, and all my friends have xbox or 360, so i personally will be sticking to 360. If i want to see amazing graphics, ill go to the PC in the other room.

Did you try messing with the AV cables on the PS3? My PS2 does the same thing every once in a while b/c my AV cable doesn't get a good connection to the PS2.

The heck they dont have enough stock I would almost guarantee they can supply as much as is needed. But theyre simply using a tried and true marketing tactic called "skimming".

All theyre doing is setting initial prices really high to make a profit off those buyers who simply cannot wait. Then theyre only allowing a certain amount of product to go out onto the shelves, simulating a "shortage" so they can justify the high prices.

Im not really saying its a conspiracy, Ive just noticed how the same thing happens every time a new console is released, it also happens in other types of electronics, and even non-electronic products. Its just a popuar pricing strategy that takes advantage of all those people that say "I want it now, right now, no matter what I have to pay".

The shortage of blue lasers may very well be the cause for Sony'* inability to stock them. But whats causing hte shortage of blue lasers? Could it be the fact theyre still a relatively new high-priced product? Could it be that perhaps the good folks who make those lasers realize this and see the potential to make money off of companies like Sony who need them desperately no matter what?...haha im merely speculating here, and im not really 100% convinced of anything im saying, it just seems to be a noticeable trend.
