Default New today (3/10/2004) & have a few questions

First of all... well done. I really like the information that gets passed around in here. Name here is Larry. I have a 2000 Bonneville SE. I am not looking to race it (yet), but would like to be able to surprise punks in rice burners from time to time. As a result, I would like some advice on first mods. I have a few in mind, please let me know if I am on the right track and in the right order:

1) Engine cover. (Cooling) Need to know what to replace it with
2) Thermostat. (Cooling) Down to 180
3) Cold Air Intake - which is really the best?
4) (Much later) Whole new exhaust system... best combo of performance, mileage and silence. I like my cars stealthy and am on the board of our HOA, need to set a good, quiet example.

I am looking for any mod that will add power without too much mileage penalty. I am a salesman with a large region and drive the car a lot. As such, mods that help it breath and keep it cooler are probably going to be beneficial in both departments.

Please send me any and all opinions. Thanks

Welcome. You're first stop should be TechInfo. Your first mod questions are answered there. Also, read through Performance&Brainstorming. Lotta good ideas there, too....

Welcome! Intake, exhaust, and the 180 thermo are the best places to start, but you should also consider a tranny cooler.

You can cut your engine cover and insert mesh similar to what you see in my sig pic. Looks cool, and still cools

There'* some pics floating around.....I have one. I'll try to find it.
