Default new to the domestic world, have a few ideas/questions.

Well, im normally a honda guy, but i need some help for my cousin who is in the process of buying a 2001 impala. he asked me to help him with some performance ideas, since the stock imapalas are slightly "sluggish", and he wants a fun, yet large enough car to drive around and be comfortable in (he is 6' 3" after all).

I told him he could probably borrow a blower from an L67 motor and fit that up to his current motor, purchasing all the extra fittings, hoses, vaccum lines etc. My first question is, will that work and be reliable? I also though since it is a gm part, it wouldnt void his warantee. I also informed him that he would need some aftermarket headers, and exhaust to provide more flow. My second question is, what is a good/reputable company that will makes those components for the car. He will also probably need new injectors and some kind of fuel delivery electronics as well, any suggestions on where i could pick those up for at, as well as costs?

Any other comments and suggestions would be great, since i know very little about these motors and cars.

Thanks for helping out.

Well I'm not too sure about the waranty issue unless gm installs it? But yeah get a eatom m90 blower and custom pcm, headers, cam, heads, nitrous, your buddy will push 400hp before he knows it.

Eh, you'd be better off doing an L67 swap then you would mounting an M90 on there. Could go centrifigul. You can get a kit from ZZP.

You can't simply slap an L67 supercharger on an N/A 3800...hell I wish it were that easy. The best bet is to do an entire engine drop or buy a new Impala SS with the L67. OR you can modify the L36 (N/A 3800) with an array of parts from the links posts above by PontiacDad. There are some very quick N/A L36'* out there. dbtk2 have some input?

Techinfo has alot of info. Buying a car with the L67 would be cheaper, but that L36 still has alot of potential.

I've talked to many people that told me you can just bold on an M90 to the engine. It sounds like it wouldn't be hard but it really is.

If he wants to pay the money, you can get a CSC and really add some grunt to that 3800. I believe some people at ClubGP have gotten their N/A cars in to the 13'* with a cam swap and other mods.

alright, on these cam swaps, what would be an ideal lift and duration to make power under the stock redline? Would new valve springs/retainers have to be used? One more thing, how much do used L67s run for?

There are different stage cams you can use. The websites Pontiac Dad showed will show you a few different cams.

You will probably need to upgrade your valvespring and such, but I would not change the rockers if you go with a cam. Sometimes it even requires upgraded heads, which I know Intense sells.

I don't know how much an L67 costs. Someone else help here.

This is NOT possible without also upgrading the heads, lower intake, PCM, engine wiring harness, and transmission. The alternator and water pump also need to be relocated. You're talking $5k minimum, and that'* doing the work yourself.

Used L67'* can be found on ebay. I've seen them go for $300 (rare). You want a Series 2, from 95 to present.

Default L67

Not to mention that the L67 uses Forged pistons, Rods etc.
