Yep it is, that'* one of the things I read about on here (as stated in the OP).
Also read on here is that some engines tolerate its removal with little or no ill effect, and some engines do not.
The L27 in my car did not appreciate it'* removal, idle quality went straight to hell.
I've read a number of posts on here about the pros/cons of removing the screen, and the effect of whether or not the engine is equipped w/ a CAI, and various tests before & after removal.
I'm wondering what the effect would be if the PCM were reset immediately after removing the screen
and letting it "learn" to run without it..
If someone has already done such a test, then that'* a post I haven't found yet.
It might produce a smoother idle, but may ultimately lead to decreased mileage and less overall efficiency..
