Welcome to the Bonneville Forum Ray. Where abouts in Michigan are you located? I work in Dearborn, and it would sure be nice to have a new friend, particularly one with access to a Tech II.
One mod you might want to consider is a performance shift kit. They will give you faster and crisper shifts, which also helps the bands and clutches wear less. Here is the one I plan on installing in my car:
