Default Lincoln Man On The GM Boat

Hello Folks,

I am a Lincoln Mark VIII aficionado(I've had 7 of them). Now I've developed a new passion with the 3800 SC motor. I now have; in addition to my 1998 Mark LSC, a Black 95 Riviera SC and a Red 96 Bonneville SE-SC.

Since I have both a Series I and Series II, I would really appreciate any tips that can help me boost performance and keep these classics going for a very long time.

Welcome to the forum. We have alot of information in the Tech Info section. You might not find much for the series 1, but you will find tons on the S2. As far as mods for the S1 not much of a market for them. But the S2 has a vast market for upgrades. Feel free to ask any questions.

Yes, it was availible. I think 96 was one of the last years for it though. They were an option with the SLE package, but admittedly are few and far between.

Interesting. I'm actually looking into buying a Mark VII.

Anyway, welcome!

Welcome Alfonza.

I am not as familiar with the 3800 Series I'*, but I have gotten to know a bit about the 3800 Series II'*, and the main thing I suggest is getting the Lower Intake Manifold Gasket replaced from the known to fail nylon 6,6 lined gaskets, and go with either the Fel-PRO, or AC Delco 2nd design aluminum ones.
Also, make sure you flush/change/bleed your coolant regularly, as well as service all other fluids regularly.

If your water pumps are original, and you have over 100k miles, then if it is in your budget, I'd consider replacing them with the more expensive AC Delco water pumps with stamped steel impellers, and aluminum framed water pump gasket.

As far as boosting performance, are you looking for mod advice, like machining superchargers, upgrading cams, valves, etc?
Or are you just looking to get the best performance out if them the way they are now?
