Default Multiple Problems with 2016 Yukon XL Denali

I bought a "Certified Preowned" Yukon XL Denali 2016 model at the end of January this year. I have experienced multiple glitches with the radio and DVD player. It will freeze up and you can't do anything but turn the vehicle off and basically let it reset. Very frustrating. On September 1, my AC stopped blowing cool air. Immediately went to George Carr Dealership in Vicksburg, MS where I bought it. They said the freon was low added 2 cans and charged me $83.02. Labor was $47.50 for 20 minutes and parts were a total of $26.76. Then, last week the AC went out again and was blowing hot air. Took it back to dealership last Friday and had them check it out again while they did an oil change and tire rotation. That day I also let them know that we had just noticed that the black plastic trim panels on the doors next to the windows had begun to flap when driving in the interstate! At first, they said everything checked out OK on AC and wanted to do a $200 dye test to see if it was leaking, I would not consent to the dye test. They investigated further and found that the condenser has a leak. They also said there was a service bulletin in the black panels, but since I was just over the mileage on the "certified preowned" warranty, it would cost me over $600 to replace the 3 that were loose!!! I told them that was ridiculous. There are 6 panels total and they were "saving" me money if they only replaced the 3 that were loose!! I asked them how they were able to sell this vehicle as a certified preowned vehicle knowing there was a problem with the panels and not fixing them before selling. Apparently, 2015 and 2016 models have had a lot of condenser problems too based on my research. I called GM to report these issues to see if they would help fix these problems on Tuesday. That Tuesday I noticed a brand new issue with the brakes. They were grinding! Took the vehicle to a mechanic that I know personally and he said only the left front brake pad was completely worn. All others looked brand new. He said it appears that the caliper was getting stuck when gripping when the brakes were applied!! GM apparently will not do anything about the cheap plastic panels, but is offering to pay $215 towards replacing the condenser. $300 out of pocket cost to me for the dealership to replace it. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned and not to mention the most expensive!! I will likely never purchase a GM again. I will be getting rid of this vehicle asap. Anyone else experiencing such poor quality on the 2016 Yukon xl denali? I'm beyond frustrated and plan to call GM back to see what they actually tell me. Any suggestions?

You should of gotten a letter from GMC about your very issue. They have a fix they will perform and reimburse you the monies spent trying to fix it

Certified Preowned (CPO) means completely inspected and reconditioned.

When was the vehicle manufactured?

What are the time and mileage terms of the warranty?

What date did you purchase?

Odometer when you purchased?

Odometer on September 1?

Odometer last week when air conditioner got warm again?

Odometer on Tuesday?

Odometer today?

Have you done anything besides drive it around (such as towing, off-roading, accidents, etc.)?

Did you bring it in during the warranty period?

If "yes" to the above, did they replace the DVD player?

Is September 1 during the warranty period?

Is the air conditioning covered by the warranty?

A properly-running automotive air conditioning system shouldn't lose any amount of refrigerant for years, especially one this new. For them to just fill it and call it good is improper. This presents the appearance that they wre just trying to buy time for the warranty to run out . . . or were being just plain lazy. Unbelievable there was a bill for this. Was the air conditioning not covered under your GMC CPO warranty?

Less than three months and out of refrigerant again?

. . . and without the $200.00 dye test, cool!

Need to know about all that stuff way up on top for this. Also need to know when the service bulletin is dated.

Wow they really didn't like you calling them did they? Sorry couldn't resist.

Barring any abuse or accident, a vehicle that has been completely reconditioned shouldn't have anything like this happen. This leads me to doubt that "reconditioning" was done completely . . . back to thinking the word "lazy" again.

I wouldn't count this out yet depending on the service bulletin'* date versus your purchase date and manufacturer and/or CPO warranty terms.

Not trying to talk you off of the metaphorical ledge, but at the same time this has all the earmarks of being a dealer issue more than a GM issue.

Get us the info I mentioned above and let'* see what the picture looks like.

Perchance do you have a Carfax or Autocheck on this vehicle? I'm really wondering if it used to be a well-beaten and well-unloved rental car or something similar.

Just a couple of questions.......

Mainly, Mileage when bought, mileage when first A/C problem occurred, mileage when last A/C problem occurred......

Also, if there was an extended "certified" warranty, or if they were just giving you the remainder of your original bumper to bumper warranty, if the vehicle when bought, was under 36K miles........if there was a certified warranty extension, was it bumper to bumper, or just Powertrain coverage....

This is basic coverage of vehicle:

WARRANTY AND COVERAGE
3-YEAR/36,000-MILE BUMPER-TO-BUMPER WARRANTY†
5-YEAR/60,000-MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY†
5-YEAR/60,000-MILE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE†
5-YEAR/60,000-MILE COURTESY TRANSPORTATION†
GMC 6-YEAR/100,000-MILE CORROSION PROTECTION†
TWO MAINTENANCE VISITS**
3-MONTH TRIAL OF ONSTAR GUIDANCE PLAN3
5-YEAR ONSTAR BASIC PLAN4

Under a Certified plan, there is a checklist that they go through to certify it.....if everything checks out at the time it is ok..... TSB'* are not warranty items....if there is a TSB on your vehicle, it just means there could be a future problem, but until it becomes a recall, it is not something that will be fixed for the future....

One thing I would ask to see, are all there RO'* on the vehicle, when the vehicle was "certified"....this gives you an actual printout of what was done to certify the vehicle......you may find that A/C work was done to it...and if it was just "topped off" like it was in your first repair, you have evidence to go after them for the A/C repairs, and it should cost you nothing....the same if there was work done on the brakes....

Good point, and I'd suggest if possible to get this looked up at a different dealership so as to avoid the information being skewed based on the suspect dealership'* knowledge of the situation.

CathedralCub, every dealership is different, when it comes to warranties, especially on "certified" vehicles.....

Some give you one year/12,000 miles.......some may give you just the remainder of the bumper to bumper warranty, if there is anything left......I have seen people complain because they don't understand this....they buy a vehicle, that is only 2 years old(from initial in service date), but has 34K miles on it....two months later they have a problem, and they think it is covered under warranty, which still has another 10 months left.....but they have traveled more than 2000 miles since they bought it, and are out of warranty on mileage.....Customers'* just don't understand, it'* 3 yrs or 36K miles, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST!.....the same with extended warranties....

Most dealerships that I have seen, offer an "extended" warranty, on
certified" vehicles......but even that has to be analyzed.....there may be restrictions on what is actually covered....this is what this customer has to do....
