Default Goodwrench 350 temperature

Hello.
After first morning start the thermometer rises high before the thermostat opens. It goes to 240-250 °F before dropping to normal. Sometimes I get a little nervous wether it will fall or not. Most of the time wot acceleration in 4:th gear opens the thermostat. Never experienced any boiling. Could it just be a sticky thermostat? Is there any danger in this kind of bahavior? Otherwise the engine is just fine.

Assuming there is no air trapped in the cooling system, I would just replace the thermostat. That'* concerningly warm.

On a 195 stat, I wouldn't expect more than 200-210 even when you are pushing it.

Buy a premium or OEM thermostat. It is a cheap thermostat (they have gotten terrible) or it is failing.

Take the old thermostat out, put in pot of boiling water, should open before water roils. If not toss it, do boil test with new thermostat also, it might be bad.

Ok. Problem solved. I put in a new 180 °F thermostat, and now teperature first goes up to ~200 degrees and then drops to ~180.
This looks like perfect in my opinion.
