Electric fan in 04’ Tahoe
Retired foreign car mechanic & shop here , love my Tahoe. Without air flow over the condenser nothing gonna cool to a black Tahoe in the southern head that stuck in traffic ! A heavy duty fan would help but I would have to turn the radio up , not the way I wanted to go . The GM duel fans solve that AC weakness
Black 2001 YukonXL 5.3 4WD with over 300,000 miles on it, living in TX, and been through OK, CO, NE, KS, WY, SD, as well as the deserts of UT, NV, AZ, and CA. It'* amazing what a severe duty fan clutch can do (including in standstill Las Vegas and Los Angeles traffic in the hot months). The only noise is the same noise the factory unit made, a little roar while it is still cold, and the only extra noise is occasionally while climbing Baker Grade at freeway speeds in 120+ degrees. I guess part of it is what make/model severe duty fan clutch is used, and how much idle time we're talking about. Mine was the expensive Napa unit. Either way, much easier to install than converting to electric.
Electric fans are easier on water pump bearings, but harder on the alternator.

Good information, so I’ve got my Tahoe broken down waiting for my remapped ECU to return . Noticed my coolant level was low , pressure checked & found the weep hole with a small leak !! I replaced this water pump about (5+) years ago . Maybe this time with no fan clutch , it will last longer 👍👍
