Installing duel electric fans & factory fuse block in 04’ Tahoe for better low speed operation . Can the ECU be remapped out of the car ? And who is the most dependable?
I feel like I need about 10% more information to understand the question.
You're installing electric fans that replace the mechanical fan?
You want the ECU to be remapped while not installed in the car, like on a bench by some kind of service that does this kind of thing? . . . and the remapping is related to the fans?
Who is the most dependable at remapping an ECU for electric fans while out of the car?
Yes , you are correct. Need the ECU remapped to operate the electric fan operation. I would like to send the ECU to a vendor who offers this service . Seams simple operation ,but have had no luck in finding a shop to remap my ECU . I live in Knoxville area & driving for this service would be my first choice 👍
Cardixer007 , thanks for the info about flashmasterecm . After a very helpful phone call I was refused to “ Garrett tuning” . I can send in my ECU for the simple Remapping of on / off & AC operation . So I found out Flashmasters is a reconditioning on a mass scale , They referred me to Garrett who is tuner . Garrett was very familiar with this very common upgrade on the 2000-2006 Tahoe, Yukon etc . I will report down the road on my modified,
I recommend that you tell them the on/off temperatures that you desire. This image shows you the temps that I've settled on. The GM 'default' temp settings are much higher than this, which I think is too high. Since your original post indicated that you desire better cooling at low speeds, I would think you would not be happy with the higher GM default settings. They may ask but in case they don't...
What I did not mention in my original post . The cooling problem I’m trying to correct is the poor AC cooling at low Vehicle speed . Classic GM problem before electric fans . My 04’ tahoe is Black, has rear AC & new radiator a year ago . On a hot day in the south you need all the help you can get !
Swap the fan clutch for a severe-duty fan clutch. That will take care of most or all of it for a lot less time, work, and money. I did on my 2001 YukonXL. Worked wonders. I also insulated all of the exposed cold refrigerant lines under the hood. I'm not sure how much that helped, but it must have helped at least a little.
