'06 Envoy 4.2 w/87k. New to me. When I try to shift to 1st to creep down my steep driveway, the "1" light does not light and the trans is in 2nd with the "2" lit. The shift lever does feel a little loosey goosey. C.

you need to get under it, and have someone move the lever from 2 to 1 and see if the cable is moving there. this should be done engine off wheels blocked. this will tell you if its loose there or its in the trans or shifter
