Default A/C Auxiliary Tube Assembly replacement/issues

Hello,

has anyone ever heard of the A/C Aux tubes going bad? I have a 2012 GMC Acadia so this goes for Traverse and Enclave also I assume. The hoses in the assembly were apparently rubbing on each other long enough that they caused a leak and so the freon leaked and A/C stopped working. My mechanic didn't have the special GM tool to clamp the assembly to the existing lines so I ended up having to take it to the dealership (today). I'll let you all know how that goes down but two people I've spoke to about this now have never hear of that. One even said when they see stuff like they go a searching for a recall ,very odd for this particular part to be the source of a leak.

I could find no TSB'* for this problem.....

However.........

Your picture reminded me of a problem that "W" cars had in the late 90'*, where a wiring harness was located too close to the accumulator bracket, and would cause all kinds of electrical problems, as the harness rubbed against the bracket, either cutting wires or shorting them out...

Your picture looks like a poor design, where the edges of the crimps on those lines may be rubbing against that tubing.....vibration over time could cause a wear thru effect in the tubing.....after a repair I would be putting insulation over those edges....

We don't hear of this a lot though. It looks like one of those deals where GM designed it all to fit close together, and they do just fine . . . until somebody bumps one a little and doesn't think much about it. During an oil change or belt change or whatever else has been needed over the last seven years.

Thank you very much for the replies. The dealership found what my local mechanic didn't but I'm more disappointed in myself because I have been the driving and should have noticed the motor mount was bad! I didn't feel that but then again I take it easy on my cars, not really gunning it. Yes, motor mount bad...engine rocking back when revved high and over time causing the damage, a crack on of the A/C auxiliary hoses. Also, found a leak in the rear AC compressor so that was.
