Default Bizarre clock issue

Even though the clock in my 2011 Yukon XL Denali keeps accurate time it doesn’t update on the display until I start the vehicle, power on the radio, power off the radio, or change the source.

For example, when I start the vehicle it will show the correct time (when I started the vehicle) but won’t update again unless I power on the radio. Once on, it shows the new correct time, but again won’t update again unless I power the radio off or change source.

The display only shows the correct time at initial vehicle start, radio power on, radio power off, or source change. All times in between, the time displayed on the screen doesn’t change/update/ show the correct time.

However I never have to re-set the time. When the display does update, it is the correct time, so it is keeping the correct time, just not displaying the correct time continuously.

Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions for a fix?

In the GM serial bus system, the Dash Interface Module is the Power Mode Master as well as the time keeper for the system. Someone else will have to confirm if this is still accurate in your GMLAN system, but it sure sounds like the beginning of a DIM failure.
Anything else that mysteriously turns off or on?

On our 2017 Chevy Trax, when you start the car, the immediate time shown time shown, is the time when the vehicle was last shut off....after a few seconds, it changes to the correct time.....crazy....

Default Aux

The only other odd issue is when when playing from an iPod playlist (connected via USB cable in AUX mode) it will sometimes just stop playing and I must unplug the USB cable the re-plug USB to get it to continue playing.

Issues started when in the shop for battery replacement. For several weeks afterward the clock would show no numbers at all, only the “ : “ . Then, it just suddenly started showing the time again, but with the issue described in original post.

Is that normal operation? Pretty sloppy engineering if it is.

On a somewhat different topic, I recently noticed that GM has deleted the front foot well courtesy lights, which was a feature of higher division and better equipped cars for decades, sometime beginning around the 2007 models. Nothing like stepping into a poorly lit, black hole. Reminded me of a 60'* Biscayne.

Sounds like it is slowly fixing itself.

But seriously, our Outlook had decided for a while that when you turn on the cruise control it would say " ET TO " instead of "SPEED SET TO xx" and it would keep " ET TO " on screen until the ignition was shut off (refusing to answer for button presses etc.). Next start it would be back to normal and would function fine until CC is set again.

Then, a few months later: voila' it fixed itself.

It'* been fine since. Nothing happened in between except a bunch of normal driving and probably an oil change.
