The weird thing is: They should be normal until power is applied.

That’* what I thought to but I guess once power is applied to charge/change the substance that dims it must require another charge or to change back and if sensors are bad or mirror circuitry then I guess that wouldn’t allow it to happen☹️

If they work like auto darkening welding helmets it'* needs power to darken. I'm thinking that is how these work but I'm not sure. I don't have much experience with them.
They are fairly simple. There'* a high and low signal wire that comes from the module. I'm thinking the sensor is bad and keeping them dark.

Evidently it doesn’t take power to stay dim because I’ve completely unplugged the mirror and it stays dim

I was thinking that after I made the last reply but dismissed it. Is it dark without key in ignition? Can you see the sensor in the mirror you unhooked? It'* just a little thing probably in the corner.

It’* dark/dim all the time. No matter what state of power the vehicle is in. Yes I can see sensor. Have tried cleaning and covering all the sensors. Nothing changes anything

I think the layer in the mirror is bad. Here'* how they work.
