I know this topic has been beat to death but my searches did not answer my questions. I want to instal a auto dimming mirror with just a hot wire and a ground. I have a 2000 SLE with an overhead console no sun roof. 1st. how does the mirror come off the glass? 2nd how does the overhead console come loose and can I wire to the accessory outlet? And that should do it. thanks

Thanks for the help. I was able to complete the job. The old mirror came off by prying gently with a small screrwdriver placed in a slot on the bottom of the mirror (it is spring loaded). The overhead console with the courtesy lights snaps out by gently pulling down on the back side of the unit then sliding toward the rear of the car to disengage the front tabs. The console with the accessory outlet has four clips (2 near the middle and 2 at the rear, pry down gently. The electric hookup is done by tapping into the accessory outlet wiring. Orange is hot and black is ground. If you want the mirror to work only when the ignition is on the fuse (no. 23) must be to the inside terminals, the outside terminals are for constant current. (hot all the time)
