Question Alternative to plastic upper intake manifold

Make: Chevrolet
Model: K1500 4X4
Engine: 5.7L V8
I am currently in the process of swapping a new 5.7 V8 into my truck and wanted to know if anyone knew of any aftermarket alternatives to the stock plastic upper intake manifold that still allows me to keep using the stock MFI system. From looking at a couple of aftermarket options on Jegs and Summit Racing, I believe that they are only for carbureted engines. Although, I may be wrong as my mechanical knowledge is not too high.

Thanks, Noah

Although there is always room to learn, if your mechanical knowledge isn't too high, you might not want to change from factory.

Then again, maybe it isn't your daily driver and you are taking time to learn as you go. Good opportunity to learn!

That having been said, why not post the items you are looking at and we can chime in with some info.

What are you hoping to gain by ditching the plastic UIM?

I've mainly been looking at this Edelbrock variant. But here is the Summit Racing search I used.

I'm trying to eliminate any future problems as I plan on adding a supercharger or pro-charger in the future.

I'm curious about a supercharged 5.7 FI setup.

There are mods out there to convert the 5.7 to DI with 24X crank.

The Edelbrock unit is for fuel injection.

The Summit link brings up six, four of which are for fuel injection.

Unless there is a defect, the plastic unit should be fine for now. When you add a supercharger, go with whatever the respective supercharger manufacturer recommends.

I'll make sure to keep this in mind. My plan is to keep it as close to stock as possible in the beginning and then to simultaneously increase the boost and build the engine after about a year or so. Mostly because I don't have the funds to do it all at once.

If you don't have a 4 bolt block, I suggest swapping one in. They have a stronger bottom end. Great for boosted/turbo applications.

If you really want to spice things up, get the stuff for the Vortec V8 marine engine. All fuel injection...
