2021 silverado trans issues
Hey all... new to this forum but not new to forums in general. I have used them for about every vehicle I have owned since forums were a thing. My silverado has had 2 valve bodies installed and a recall now exists for same issue. What is going on with my truck is a life threatening issue and G.M said they don't have a remedy.
. My truck will downshift from overdrive to 1st at highway speeds when I go to pass someone. Valve body was replaced last ti.e this happened. But now dealer said they are not doing that as GM doesn't know how to go about fixing it permanently. They are suppose to install a program that will sense the issue occurring and limit me to 5th gear. But they said GM as it seems is going to leave customers with the repairs when their warranty runs out.
3rd valve body is less than 2 years is a major issue in my opinion and should ve taken seriously....

Yep lawyer. Depending on when you first reported the issue and if you bought it new, this might be a lemon. Check out the attached .PDF for Ohio'* lemon law booklet. This might qualify as a safety issue as well because this behavior could possibly cause a loss of control of the vehicle.
Don't say anything about a lawyer until after you hire one. Saying something ahead of time can often make things more difficult, and if you're not serious, now it is more difficult and you have no lawyer helping.
A recall exists for this? . . . or is it a tech service bulletin or the like?
Could you post the recall/TSB?
Sure they do. They just don't want to admit it. Valve body doesn't work? Swap the transmission for a new one. If that doesn't work, start looking into electronics and sensors. They're just trying to save money. They have a reasonable period of time to resolve this. My suggestion: Don't let them turn you away with this auto-repair gobbledygook. If the vehicle is a safety hazard to drive, you can't drive it anyways. It may as well sit at the dealership. Be sure to document EVERYTHING including who you talk to, what was said, date, time, etc.
Let'* get some more detail on this.
How many miles on the car?
Did you purchase it new?
What engine?
What transmission?
2WD or 4WD?
What speed is it going when this happens?
How do you know it'* going to 1st specifically? . . . and not going to 2nd or just falling out of gear and letting the engine rev to the sky etc.?
How did they decide a valve body was the issue before?
The second sentence doesn't quite make sense in this context. Did they install the program?
Don't let that happen. Stop driving it if it is getting close on mileage or time. Remember, every warranty repair and subsequent driving after repair adds miles and time.
I agree.
