Default 2014 SIERRA POWER STEERING LOCKS UP

2014 GMC SIERRA 4X4 SLT --92,000 MILES. Truck is having issues with power steering going out at low rpm(voltage) while driving. never had an issue until after the first recall update, but it was would only go out occasionally while parking. no safety issue, just annoying. Had dealership check it again when at the shop for a seatbelt recall. Dealership said everything was good, but it was the same. It started getting worse over the past month or so. At intersections, one foot on brake and one foot on the accelerator to keep rpm'* (voltage) up so power steering doesn't go out. truck is parked now--to dangerous to drive. Took to dealership last Tuesday morning and picked it up Friday evening--they offered no answers. The steering wheel will also jump repeatedly (non-stop) while in park if you attempt to turn it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay from this I gather that it is having trouble idling and the power steering and voltage are symptoms of this. Does that sound correct?

I'm curious as to what the truck is idling at. If he is seeing low voltage at idle and poor power steering performance, this is all related to his low idle condition.

What is your RPM when this is happening?

Yeah, that'* where I am. DGAMERICAN appears to be reporting this as a voltage and power steering issue. The idle issue is being accidentally mentioned only because it is being conflated with the voltage issue.

It is fairly clear to me that the vehicle is having trouble maintaining idle when it needs to, but I can't be sure without some more information from DGAMERICAN . Hopefully they come back so we can help.

Is system voltage dropping? How are you measuring this?

Electronic power steering? I know some newer cars have that. Is that used on any full size trucks?

Yeah it probably has it. They started doing electric power steering a bit before DGAMERICAN'* truck was built. Hopefully DGAMERICAN comes back so we can get this diagnosed.

I'm guessing the campaign to reprogram the electronic power steering control module for loss of steering has been performed(campaign number 17276-02). Search TSB # 18-NA-161,It'* a GM service bulletin for Loss of P/* assist,Steering jerks,or kicks back. Hope this is helpful.
