Default 2001 Silverado LS 4.8 No Crank No Start

Hello,
Hopefully I get the help I need. I got my truck stolen and they broke the lock cylinder. I replaced the cylinder and I tried to do the relearn process but I get a solid battery light on the message dash instead of a Security message. I checked all the fuses but when I use a jumper wire at the Starter relay to see if the Starter kicks I get nothing. I have a good battery but it drains within 10 mins. What could the solid battery light indicate. Thanks for your help.

Verify that there is no damage done to the ignition switch itself.

Hello Mike, I will verify the ignition switch but not the ignition housing correct? Will that be a cause for a solid battery light at the dash?

Ignition SWITCH, not the cylinder. Its possible the cylinder was over rotated and damage the internal electrical switch.

Nothing wrong with the ignition switch all wires seem to be in place. What else would cause a solid battery light.

It would be the inside of the switch that would be damaged in this case, not the wires on the outside of it.

You could test resistance between the different pins. They should all be open.

You have heavy drain? Are you sure the battery is good?
