they are Keys that you put in the Wallet so if you ever got locked out you can get in the car

Then why is there an ignition key too? wouldn't the plastic break trying to unlock the car throught the key hole?

in theory yes.....that is why it says Emergency use only......and i believe that it has saved a few before

Its true. they are ment to be spare keys to your car.
you are to have them cut to your car and keep in your
wallet. if you were to loose your car keys you can
have a copy made from them.
also quite possible to start your car if there was no
security system.

at least open the doors.

Why would the car recognize it, it dosen't have the groves a conventional key does...
