If I bought 40th anniversary emblems for my 96? I know it would be an imposter, but they look so good! I wouldn't lie to anyone should they ask!

It'* really not recommended to do so, since your car isn't a 97. Maybe if you found some 30th anniv. badges!

Plus people that need the badges would be infuriated.

Simply. No. Having a 40th anniversary is a special thing. Adding badges to your car would just be spoiling the authentic thing for everyone else. You're stuck with a regular old production bonne!

Nothing wrong with owning them (I just bought an SSEi emblem ), but I really wouldn't want to see a Bonneville improperly badged.

Those badges go for quite a bit of money and those who really need them would probably be upset. It is your car though, and we can't stop you from doing what you wish, but if it'* not a 40th, why badge it as one? I personally don't see the point, but that'* just me

Those who badge their cars as something they are not WILL get a little heat for it from some people. People have badged their SEs as SSEi'*, and it doesn't result in much acceptance from people, especially those that actually have the real thing. This goes for any kind of car not just Bonnevilles.

Doing things like changing rims or adding interior features is different, because those things do not 'say' you are something else. But badges clearly designate cars as something in particular.

EDIT: Moving to General chat....

That reminds me of my next door neighbor that faked his Signiture Towncar into a Cartier Towncar by changing the emblems. Real cheesy.

Haha, exactly, its like turning a Rustang with a 2.3L 4banger into a 5.0 V8 just by putting some 5.0 badges on it.
