I'm looking at my Service Manual for the '91 Olds. In the Symptom Table it lists something that might be close to your problem. Do your wipers cycle in and out of Park(ie. The Slap) in HI??? I know your problem is intermittent, but it does list some diagnostic steps that you might want to take(Windsheild Wiper Motor Assy Input Voltage Test and Windsheild Wiper Motor Assy Resistance Test).
