My wipers still chatter, even after replacing the inserts. I'm wondering what experiences everybody has with good wipers that wipe clean, quietly, and smoothly, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm more or less just looking for inserts...not interested in paying $30 for a whole arm.

Well I can tell you right now that ghetto chrome double bladed wipers from autozone don't do jack!

Why don't you just get a set of ANCO'* for about $15 a pair? They will last you a good six to eight months.

I guess I am just getting old, but I have no idea where you would be buying wipers for $30 per side. I hope you are not talking about those ricey color-coordinated plastic pieces of crap with all the air foils?

On a related note: If you run your car through drive-thru car washes, you will get alot of wax build-up on the windshield and, therefore, the wipers. That will play hell on your wiper blades.

Try cleaning your wiperblades with rubbing alcohol about once a month. Also give your windshield a good cleaning too with glass cleaner and newspapers while your at it.

If you've ever used Rain-X on your front glass...

I used Bon-Ami cleanser, as per the instructions on the Rain-X site to REMOVE the Rain-X.
New refills for the blades on the wiper arms.
After a good rain, the wipers quit chattering.
EVERY car I've ever put that 600mph Rain-X on has had wiper chatter.
When I get a supersonic land vehicle, I might put it on the windshield again!

BTW, the newspaper trick is a good one.

If you want a semi-permanent product that doesn't cause chatter and doesn't wear off fast, use PPG Aquapel. Mine is still repelling after 3 months. Get it from your auto glass dealer.

Jay is right, the cheap blades can be the best. The double blades can be the worst. Your blade holders (the arm for some of you, but not really.....the flexible frame the blade slides into) should be thin and ventilated. No wings. You don't want the wind to FORCE it down on the glass. You want as light a pressure on the blade as possible. Low profile.

For me it'* GM or nothing!

I don't know if this is still true, but Anco used to make the GM blades.

hey man, thats funny. my mom used to work at that anco factory when she was younger, along with my grandmother. anyways, i just thought that was funny
