Question UIM gasket

Ok another somewhat dumb question....what the heck is the UIM gasket???
I was reading post about dex crap and some mention replacing it. Is this something I should look into? Or am I just worried about nothing?

if it'* not leaking you should be fine. if you want you can replace it but as long as it'* functioning correct i wouldn't, mainly because im a fan of not fixing things unless they are broken.

Check the threads on failing UIM gasket and the intake manifold itself. Its not a matter of if, but when both will fail. I had both projects on my "round to it" list. I had the UIM fail on a road trip and paid thru the nose to have the a dealer do. I was still over 600 miles from home. Its not a hard job to do in your driveway. Its real hard on the wallet to have the dealer do it.

Actually I haven't heard much of the gasket itself failing. The UIM itself can fail though. In the EGR bore it will get hot and through the expansion and contraction cycles it can crack or rupture. The cooling passages to supply the TB are directly next to the EGR bore and will fill the LIM with coolant and possibly cause a hydrolock. The other thing to keep in mind is that the LIM gaskets also have a high rate of failure and should be replaced with the best available. Currently the best replacement for the LIM gaskets is the GM aluminum gaskets.
