Default Tails for my le

Ok my tails are really making me mad....they still work but look like crap! I took the inner piece out and then the outside cracked either from rocks or someone thought they would be funny and break them :( So then my bulbs all burn out :? . I am picking up 4 red LED 1157 bulbs for the brake and turn signals, and later I will buy white leds for the reverse lights and 194'* for the rest of the taillight bulbs. I was wondering.....sse tails would be nice but that is a chunk of change!!! What tails would be a nice and easy custom shave, bondo, and fitting operation???? They need to be cheap enough to buy. I have a welder and my bro does good bondo jobs so that is no problem, but I want some that would look good. OR.....could I somehow make my own lenses for the le'* stock assembly or not?? the lens would never really need to come back off so I could glue it on or something. I tried plexiglass when I was bored one afternoon but I couldnt get that *#@$ to bend! is there better clear plastic you can use? Just tell me if I should use:
Idea 1-custom shave and fit operation and tell me what tails to use and such. OR
Idea 2-custom LE lenses made from clear plastic and tell me what plastic to use. OR
Idea 3-Save and buy SSE tails and kick my own *** every time I go to a car show and see some really cool taillight jobs! OR
Idea 4-the white trash look with my cracked lenses

It shouldnt be too hard to get some from a salvage yard. Cars are there because they don't run anymore or because of front end collisions.

You betcha. Sooner or later you'll find some decent taillights in there, probably sooner (and be sure to ask behind the desk, don't just roam the yard, because the really good taillights may be removed by the yard owners and stored as soon as the car arrives, before it even goes outside for the pickers to find).

Don't waste your money on LED bulbs. They send all their light straight outwards, but what makes your Bonne taillights so nice, bright and red is the reflector surrounding each bulb, which gathers the light coming out the _sides_ of the bulb and focuses it rearward, to fill the whole lens with light.

You stick an LED bulb in the middle of the taillight, and all you'll get is a dinky little red spot surrounded by darkness, since the LED bulb doesn't emit anywhere near enough side light to let your taillight reflectors do their job.
