Default Scantool Question

Ok yall, Im looking into buying a scantool for my car. I would like to get one that will show tranny data too so I can see why my transmission is slipping so much at times. The one Im looking at I think will be able to read the things I want as well as Ford data (my dad has a Topaz which I use when the bonne isnt running which isnt often anymore.) Take a look and give me your thoughts please. I think its a good deal. Maybe too good a deal...

Thanks,

Sam

I need a scantool as well - must monitor KR. I'm interested to see how this pans out for you.

I don't think it would tell you if your trans is slipping. It might only tell you which solenoids are engaged. Even if all your solenoids were working perfectly, your trans could still slip and not cause any codes. Especially if your differential is shot.

Well even though it may not tell why its slipping, liek you said it will show me if the solenoids are workin and all. I dont actually have a check engine light right now nor does the topaz, but it would be nice to have one and be able to see if there is anything going wrong like the O2 which will not show a code unless it is completely dead. I dont have a problem with KR as Im N/A'd but I do know a few other people with older GM and Ford cars and they would be interested in this as well as I am. I think Im gonna order it tomorrow night after work. Ill let yall know how it turns out.

That scantool WILL tell you KR and trans slip rpm'*. It will tell you everything that the 92/93 PCM can report. It can also record data, but cannot download to a PC.

It will do the same for any 94/95 with a different cable.

That actually looks like a good price for all those testers and Scantool, IMO. I'm considering getting it to use on my Ford Ranger...
