Default Yet another "which ScanTool to get" question...

I know there are a zillion scantool threads, but I THINK I'm on the right track here...

Here'* what I want in a scantool--including cables, software, etc.--right out of the box (or at most, with free or low-cost software downloads):

1) Ability to read and store EVERYTHING I could possibly want (codes including enhanced, sensor voltages, timing, the WORKS) in these vehicles:
-1998 Buick LeSabre and Olds 88
-2002 to 2004 Buick Regal/LeSabre or Pontiac Grand Prix/Boneville
-2000 to 2003 Toyota Camry/Avalon

2) Ability to at least read codes in this vehicle:
-1993 Dodge Dakota

3) Can hook up to PC for data analysis...but does not REQUIRE a laptop or palm pilot to operate.

4) Cost less than about $400 (EBAY an option)

Sounds like the Autoxray 6000 meets these needs. Any other options?

Almost had a suggestion for ya, til you got to the price...

See if you can find a decent price on the AutoXray EZ-Scan AX6000

It should do everythig you want, except be under 400 bucks. I have the 5000 and the only thing it'* missing is the PC Hookup, which I could add if I wanted/needed to...

I agree with John (MOS95B). There may be others that will get close to all your parameters, but the AutoXray 6000 is likely your best bet.

I ordered the Autoxray 6000 from http://www.levineautoparts.com/autez60obdii.html It came out to just above 400 bucks with second day shipping and there is also a $50 mail in rebate that comes with it. I should be getting the scanner sometime tomorrow and Ill be able to see if they sent the right thing and if all the cables and stuff were included. All in all this place was the cheapest to get it other than maybe ebay but from what I found, the prices were about the same from either place. Ill let you know tomorrow night or Thursday morning how it worked out and if I would recomend the website to you.

Paco, if you could when you get yours, please start a new thread and post pics and VIDEO if possible. I would like to see this thing in action.

First off, I just tracked the scanner through ups and its in San Antonio until the weather in Texas clears up. Ill see if I can borrow a digital camera from one of my friends to take pics of it scanning but I dont know anyone that has one that will take video. An the scanner connects to the computer via serial port. I believe there is an adaptor that will go from serial to usb or firewire but Im not exactly sure where to get one. I sure radio shack or some place like that will have one for just a few dollars.

Tomorrow Ill call the UPS rep that services the company I work for and see if he has any idea when things will get moving again. Soon I hope..

I saw the hardware specs too, thats why I was unsure, since both the old pc Serial ports and USB are both serial communication ports; and the RJ45 jack is a std network jack. I realize both serial and usb can be wired to fit the rj45 and still work fine.

What I don't get is why they bother with the older serial port, If they have newer computers there they obviously must realize that they don't have one either.
