I really like what Pontiac is doing to the Bonneville. The car is really gonna haul ***. The only thing that gets me, is that I read reviews a while back saying that the GXP concept had the Series II 3800, with an upgraded */C that pumped out 270HP. I know that the 4.4 at 285HP is nice, but I like the V6 with the */C. If Pontiac is gonna go with the V8, strap on a supercharger, or get out. That is what I feel.
The 4.4L is a stroked and updated Aurora V8. I have never seen any problems with them and there are a few mods already out there if everything lines up the same way. I don't yet have the specs, but when I do, I'll post them here.
BTW... the rumor mill at GM says that the 2005 Bonnville will ride on the new STS platform, which is RWD and it may be slotted as the 4 door variant of the GTO, similar to Impala / Monte Carlo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like what I was hearing.. This is what had me on the RWD assumption, but money and public response play a big part in this. The GTO will do well but the Bonneville will need to pull up with its newer in 2004 and hope the market is ready by 2006 for a Rwd Bonneville. I think they / we are ready for a Rwd everything.
