I religiously only use Castrol oil and a Purolator filter.

As I've said before, regular oil changes are the only factor you can count on 100% and you can use just about anything with decent additives as long as you keep the engine clean and change the oil frequently enough to ensure it doesn't break down.

That having been said, I've personally gone to Mobil 1 in the past couple years because I sometimes get busy enough that my oil changes don't happen exactly when they should. The Mobil 1 buys me a peace of mind.

Thats the "key"......with "good" oil and filter you can run longer OCI'*(6-8k or more)
but to be shure have a UOA done....

My last UOA with mobil-1 and a AC filter PF-52 was very very good. i wish i still had it i
would post it.

wear counts were extreamly low!!!!!!!

I did a UOA on my last Dino change a couple years ago. I then did one on my second change to Mobil1 (to let the first batch of Mobil1 flush out anything from before, and not skew the data). My UOA was far better after 6k on Mobil1 than 3K on Valvoline. I still have the data around somewhere.

Independent labs have shown that as many as 10k miles can be run on the original Mobil1 formula (before the new ones that just came out) and still have less wear than 3k dino juice. Amsoil probably has similar results.
