being a supercharged SS does it need to take premium gas? my aunt and uncle had a buick that did but that wasnt an 05 monte.. arent there some supercharged engines that run unleaded?
Yes, it does take premium. All of us here with SSEi Bonnes or GTP Grand Prixs all run premium. You'll lose fuel mileage and develop a nasty knock after a while of running regular.

Yes, that interior is atrocious. My mother had an 04 SS (non-supercharged) in that color. I loved that car.

GTP is a higher model than an ST. ST is bottom of the barrel if I remember right. That GTP looks to be fully loaded with heated leather, power everything, DIC, it'* supercharged, looks to have premium audio. The only thing that cars needs is tint.

the sc gp'*, and monte'* are sweet, but if you want decent fuel economy and regular gas the ls is the better model. i dont know how far you drive or if it matters.

The fuel mileage is the same between a SC and NA Bonne from my experience, so you will pay less for gas in the NA model.

To me though, that power increase is worth it, hence why I bought the SSEi and not an SLE.

The ls monte would have the 3400 not the 3800. like my 03.i could get 28-30 average two lane with stops and starts and 34 hwy stock. after e3'*, K&N drop in, resonator "delete" and msd wires i averaged 36 hwy with a few high tanks of 38.

i never had or talked to anyone who had the non sc monte but my wifes sse gets 25 local and 28-30 hwy. only mod is the K&N. and my 3400 monte was light it seemed. it was definitely faster than my non */c SSE in the 30mph and up range.

The Monte is lighter, it'* a W-body car. You're right with the 3400 vs 3800 though. Still though, I'll take that power.

Shoot, my 07 Monte SS with the 5.3L in it got about the same mileage as my SSEi does now. I attribute that to the lighter car and AFM system.

i drive 40 miles roundtrip to work now so i fill up once maybe twice a week now. I want the power, but dont want outrageous insurance bills and premium is always higher gas wise, but not really too much as of late. I need to figure out payments on something like this before i jump into buying one since im young they will rape me with insurance if I buy a fast car. which I think is stupid and bias but alot of bad eggs spoiled the bunch I suppose, ive been good with the car I have though and my company is a good one so maybe I can work something out. Definetely want that SC monte though.

You should talk to your insurance company to get some estimates on the cars you're interested in. I would say the GP GT/GTP would be cheapest, as its a sedan, and not really a "sports car" like the Monte SS. I think a truck would be higher too. The insurance was higher on my Ranger than my Buick, and it only had the basic collision, and fire and theft, compared to the full coverage (including glass) on my car. It might be completely different there though..

Insurance on my SSEi is only $600 a year for full coverage (50k/100k), roadside, and full replacement.

Insurance on my gf'* Silverado is more than my car for less coverage.
