Well, with Charlotte gone and and my Hyundai being pretty pointless to mod I have made a decision to go Pontiac once again. Since I'm in college right now, this project will probably take a few years but here is what I'm going to do.
1. Find an old 87-88 Fiero with minimal rust, doesn't have to run, or even have an engine.
2. Fix it up, clean it up, restore it, same wheels I had on Charlotte, sound deadening. etc
2. L67 swap!! Possibly a rebuild too, depending on what kind of shape the motor I find is in
3. Paint and finishing touches,
4. Possibly a custom dash taken from a 00+ bonnie, lots of fab. work, but I would find a totalled out bonnie from a junk yard and get ALL of the wiring from it, everything will work, HUD, DIC, locks, windows, it will be like a Fieroville. I wanted this since those fieros don't have much electronic suff in them so I figured why not bring everything that comes with the engine too?

Now, this totally sounds like a pipe dream but I know I can at least perform up to steps 3, and I'm an electrical engineering major so that might help alot with step 4, but give me your thougths guys, would you all want to see a Fieroville?

Make SURE that you find one in VERY good shape. Parts for the Fieros are VERY pricey, believe me, I have had 2 and I know. Make sure everything is intact, including coolant pipes under the car, window fuzzies, door stripping, etc, suspension has to be in good shape, especially if it'* a 88, as they had updated suspension, and parts are hard to find for the 88 suspension. Other than that, they are fun cars, and handle very well, especially the 88s.


Good luck! If you buy a pile of crap one, better have a big budget.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to look out for that stuff this summer, I'll only get about 1000 to spend on the car itself. Like I said, this project will take a few years.

Try to buy one from the last couple years of their run. Lots of upgrades were made in the last few years...

oh yeah, unfortunately i'm not the only person who appreciates those cars and the prices show, I see some on autotrader for more than I paid for Charlotte (10,500). I'm gonna try for at least an 87, but If I get lucky I'll find an 88.

you may wanna ask f14crazy about the dash ideas. cuz i believe i recall him saying there was not enough room for the hud.

jwakamud: That is just about what I'm looking for, good example. Those 3 speed 4-bangers get 40 mpg! Imagine if it had a high tech jappo engine in it..

Then ripping the old dash out and mounting the guages, radio, stuff like that all where I want it and then making a fiberglass dash around all the components
