LS to manual fwd transmission
I've done some research and found quite a bit of info in regards to the LS4 to F40 6 speed fwd trans. This helps me, although my needs have nothing to do with the Pontiac Fiero. I'd really like any info I can get in regards to combining a 6.0L LS engine with a 5 speed fwd manual transmission. Is there any chance of this happening? Would I still have issues with mounting the starter as well as having to shave parts off the engine block and transmission? Is there an easy combo I could find and put together?
I've never seen anything like this. If you do this, I suspect it will involve a machine shop and an expert in using CAD to design things.
Remember, among other things, you are talking fitting a heavy duty manual transmission capable of handling a lot of torque between the left fender and a relatively long block turned sideways.

My plan is to build a chasis around this powerplant and drivetrain. So you don't believe this combo exists without modifications? If that'* the case, I'm looking at the combo that folks are using fo the LS swap in the Pontiac Fiero? If so, I have no problem doing that. I had hope that there was a manual transmission out there that would do the job in.my own chassis without those particular problems.
thanks for your input.

So what you doing is dropping a high performance FWD into the rear of the Fiero. I would do some measuring before making the attempt. It should give you an idea on what may need to be modified.
No, not in a Fiero. I'm only referencing the car because people do a LS swap on them and I understand what they had to do to get it done. But my situation is different in the fact that the room required to accommodate such a combination, I would be providing. What I need is for someone to tell me if there is the possibility of marrying these 2 components without modification to either component? It'* just that simple.
In a 2000lbs car. You shouldn't need to do much. A stock 6.0 has plenty of punch don't you think. But yeah, I understand what you're saying. I guess I'll just have to keep looking for answers. Or I'll just have to pay big money for a mid engine style transaxle?
