Looked at a 95 SSE instead of the Caprice

OMG OMG you dont know what you are talking about... the 70'* and 80'* there was an LT-1 not an LT1. There are a million differnces. the only common component is the block. totally different engines.. the LT1 has a reverse flow cooling system, highter compression completely different heads, intake, and bottom end. No comaparason at all.

The Crown Vic is no comparison to the old Caprice cop cars. GM has made some bad decisions over the years and canning the Caprice was one of them. Probably because the old people that bought them couldn't handle the LT-1'* power so the bought a slow Crown Vic insted.

It'* funny this thread showed up...

Today I looked at a 1991 Chevy Carpice with an LT1. Just looking at it for a spare car. It'* pretty beat up (body in good shape, though). The interior is OK. Been smoked in. Has 123,000 miles and needs a battery. The undercarriage has a nice coating of rust proofing (AKA tranny fluid ). Started right up with a jump, but has an exhaust leak up near the manifold. Needs tires. Dark red, charcoal interior. Dummy coolant light was on in the dash, too. They said that it'* been on for two years (thinking bad sensor).

They want $2,500, but were quick to tell me that they'd take $1,500 because they are THAT desperate for cash. I was thinking about offering them $1,000. I know nothing about these cars. Sound good or keep on looking?

91 with an LT1??? must have been a swap.. or not really an LT-1 the 91-93 are ugly anyways, the quarterpanels and taillights look hideous compared to the 94-96

I think they look hideous all the way around! Just saw it on the side of the road and stopped and looked....since I can't find a decent Bonnie for a good price.

The guy was going to get the VIN run to see what it really has. I haven't stopped back though because he was so pushy with wanting me to buy it! It'* still sitting there. I'll give it another week. They're getting anxious to sell so that could mean bigger discount the longer I wait!!
