Now we're really getting somewhere! My dentist told me my mouth is great, but I should floss more.

Thanks for the link! I went to their contact form and asked them for more information on the process of prosecuting someone without a catalytic converter. I'll post the results here ASAP.

Don't wanna hijack this topic, but it is kinda related. Has anybody ever heard of anyone going to court and/or being fined by the EPA for not having a CAT? (An individual, not a shop). I 've never heard of anyone. (Don't read into this that I condone removing your Cat, I don't condone it!)

A shop here was fined $1000 after they removed several cats and put straight pipes on... This went on for several years though.

I know of one local one that made it in the paper. A guy was pulled over due to a loud exhaust, and the officer used a inspection mirror and found there was no cat on the car. He was given a court date, and was fined $1000 for excessive pollution in a emissions county/violating EPA regulations. It does happen.

Several here. Why do you think I stress it?

You should have been here for our WCBF04 emissions lecture on EPA regulations during tech-day.

Silverbullet, Pdad, driverjohn, and I were. Interesting stuff straight from a professional.

Wrong. Neighbor has a heavily modded one running low 11s.

Exhaust fumes exited through a catalytic converter, two resonators and a stainless steel mandrel bent 2.25-inch (57.15 mm) exhaust piping system, which split into two at the rear without mufflers.

Every car sold new in America as a 1975 model or later must have had a cat installed before it can legally be tagged for use on public streets.
