who has or who have u heard of that has the most miles on their bonnie extending beyond 150,000 and if so how many miles after 130,000 did **** start to break and if so how and wrer was it done, i just wana be prepaired for what lay ahead alhtough my bonnie was brought brand new w/ extended warranty by very old slow people.

I'll speak for Jseabert. He lives next door. 93SSE, 180,000 miles. Everything is fine EXCEPT.....we replaced his TPS, and he needs a new O2. This weekend we're doing Head and intake gaskets. He'* leaking coolant to the inside, and oil to the outside. His car still makes good power. The only accessory items not working are the volume **** on the stereo, and some of his steering wheel controls. Other than that stuff, which will all be fixed within 14 days, the car is TIGHT. I've got 80k on a 93 SSEi, and have had nothing major other than a burst tranny cooler line.

The first engine in my car before I owned it had over 150K on it. Then the intake had a bad crack and the engine was junk. It lasted a long time too considering the past owner didn't take very good care of it.

My new one has 12K. It runs GREAT!

I think a lot of engine and tranny problems are dependent upon the way the car was driven and maintained.

The higher the trim line, the more potential there is for minor electrical problems. I've had several with mine, including steering wheel controls, displays, lamps, etc. These pop up randomly.

I think everyone has replaced an alternator or two!

I have about 131k and running strong. My last one (an 89 SE) had 252k and the original trans and engine when I sold it. I maintain them well, and I'm not a real aggressive driver, so I think that helps.

Just doing a search on cooler lines and I pulled up this message of yours. Im having some trouble with leaking tranny fluid. I took it into the dealer last Monday and they tightened the cooler lines but its still leaking. Im taking it back tomorrow. Anything come to mind? You know I like to retain any info so when I go in I can talk the talk...so what info can you offer me?

If it'* leaking at the aftermarket cooler, and tightening the clamp didn't help, just replace that line. I have one that'* starting to do the same thing. The clamps bite into the tubing after awhile, and the expansion and contaction from heat and cold don't help. Tightening them can make it worse sometimes. If you have the stock cooler fittings leaking, you'll have to replace them, too. Pretty easy.

Uh-oh.....looks like they're crimped, and you have to buy the whole cooler or replace it aftermarket.......where EXACTLY is your leak? I can give you all the part numbers you'll need. Yours is the same tranny cooler as the 93 and 94. They changed the design in 95 and again in 96. Not all the parts are interchangeable between these years. Tell me whats leaking, exactly where, and I'll give you part numbers and prices.

92 SSEi - 175,000

Replaced alternator at 160,000. Damper at 150,000. All controls work except adjustment on HUD. Seal in trunk (pass side) leaks. Gas Tank (yesterday) - rusty, over half full would leak. Right rear wheel bearing to be replaced next week - $150.00.

...this is my first post here...... i have to say.. i love the 3.8 v-6....... i have two cars... one is an 89 bonniville sse... 224,000 miles and still like new..... had the trans replaced at about 190,000 other than that just basic consumables...... never even had the valvecover gaskets replaced yet.. and it dont leak a drop of oil.... always changed the oil at or before 3000.... always.....
my other car is a 87 gn.... basically the same v6.....well .... that car i have pretty much done everything abusive to and it still runs great.... running about 19 lbs of boost on pump gas.. with no scan tool to measure knock .. and it does knock alittle going into 3rd gear...but the point is the car still never misses a beat.. ... 87 gns best time was a 12.9 111 mph with street tires and pumpgas.... i know this is not a buick board but im just praising the little v-6.,,,,,,, i know sooner or later ill push it past its limit..."headgaskets" but ill never have a bad thing to say about the 3.8 : )
