I've been busy this week tearing my new bonnie apart and just ran into this thread. , ??? and almost laffed. (almost)(still licking my wounds from the last SSEIvsGXP mud fight).
Both cars are beautifull examples of the fine quality sports cars Pontiac has become known to produce. Each has a quality engine that leaves comparable sedans in the dust.
Published speeds and times are close and I've seen some that favor one and some favor the other. And the times are not consistent, probably due to thier being FWD and I'm still having trouble lauching mine without an incredible burnout (3.71 final gear and FWD= alot of pratice.
If you like the V8 growl, the top end smoothness, and showing off the "caddy" in a Pontiac; GXP is the man, BUT if you want low end torque, street performance, and something you can enjoy modifying SSEI is definitly the way to go.
Since I've been searching for mods to awaken the N*, It' goes from bad to worse, the PCM has'nt been cracked and some tell me it'* ouright locked, the block and heads are cast using a "squeeze technology" that makes it stronger but porous(local machine shop wont touch stating warpage, cracking, and leaking as major concerns)
The heads have an "GM in house" powder coat on the valve guides and seats that cannot be touched or altered. The PCM so complex it tunes the motor and transmission as you drive it(another reason for slow and varied times on track?) and if it gets hot, it sends gas to only 4 cylinders at a time cooling the engine quickly. It also has a smaller exhaust valve and lower cam profile then "caddy versions" and exhaust mods are'nt going to do anything but make it sound better.

We all love our Bonnies and I for one am going back to sitting on the fence and doing what I can to make mine a little faster. There is a vast aggragate pool of modification info in this forum and I wish we could all go back to being Bonnie enthusists and help each engine group instead of throwing mud at either. It'* obvious P.GXP was removed from the board not for his opinion but for how he expressed it and outright disrespect for the administration of the club(I am no angel )Peace and may the Arrow Point Force be with you.

.
Quarter mile:
-Infiniti G35 4 door: 14.5
-Honda Accord V6 240hp : 14.5-14.7
-Acura TL Type-S260hp ..270hp newer: 14.4-14.5
-Nissan maxima/Altima...265hp newer :14.5

Those cars i saw were stock except the maxima that got a Cold air intake.
Those time are some i see at the drag strip where i go , and i got 15.2 stock with a good launch for street tire (2.2 60foot).

You shoulda done better. I got a 15.1 with a 2.3 stock. With a 2.2 you shoulda got a 15 flat or even a 14.9. Every .1 on the 60 is equal to .2 on the quarter. So, 14.9.
