I run Citgo 89 octane and average 28.5 MPG mixed driving.

Harry, you need a tuneup. O2 sensor, plugs, wires, and maybe top engine cleaner is in line for you. I have the same engine you do and get 24mpg mixed highway and city. What you have for mileage?

On my speedway 87 I range from 16 on a bad tank to 22 on a good tank....what gives? Is this pretty normal. (Usually it is 19-20)

Take it on a trip Logan i'll bet you get 30mpg. My 93' did 32mpg from Minneapolis to Chicago. In winter it did only 17 mpg. My 97' */C runs a pretty consistant 21 if I beat on it, 27 if I baby it.

It often depends on the individual stations... How well their tanks are kept up, and of course the supplier'* quality

There'* one Mobil station whose gas I get about 4-5 mpg more on. Mobil and Meijer have proven to have good suppliers and tank upkeep across the state of Michigan.

Citgos are usually pretty good, except the one in Ubly, MI. That gas doesn't light on fire if you spill it on the ground! I had a weed wacker die while trying to use that junk. Put in some decent gas, and it fired back up.

Haven't tried Shell much, so nothing good or bad to say there. I know a few little no-name stations that have gas better than any major company can offer. Too bad they're in the middle of nowhere.

There'* a Marathon across from what used to be Amoco and is now BP that is always at LEAST 10 cents lower than anywhere else within 25 miles. Quality of gas is pretty ehhh, but you can't really beat a deal like that. It'* the only Marathon I've been to.

Will shop anywhere but at Speedway or Sunoco. I hate the alcohol blend at Speedway. my 90 GMC C1500 went from 25mpg to about 17 on a tank of that. Ewwww. I've gotten some watered down crap from Sunoco, especially in Ubly, MI. Had to burn it out of my tank PDQ because my car ran like I do with my bum knee The occasional Amoco station has sucked majorly, too.

I run 87 because I'm a poor college student, and I get 28mpg if I drive nicely, 22 if I use the supercharger for a little fun. I did fill up with some 89 the other day since I almost ran completely out That'* pretty close with the 32mpg I get in my Cavalier. I'll take the comfort and lower mileage any day

I do beleive Mobile makes the best gas IMO.

I either fill up at Meijer or Sunoco. Meijer is just convienient because its accross the street from my bank and its in town where I am always passing it anyways. Sunoco has 94 octane, so every couple tankfulls I fill up with the 94. I've gotten water before at the BP, but I used to go there all the time. I literally got 5 gallons of straight water that had to be cyphoned (sp?) out of the tank...me=not happy.

I only get like 10-15mpg no matter what I drive, so I really don't complain, its my driving style and there isn't much that can be done about it really.

all the way. tried chevron when i first got the tempo back, wasnt all that impressed. i topped it back off with diamond shamrock, about half a tank worth, and that totally won me over.
