GM years back decided that they didn't need to have 2 V6 engines, one being a 90* and the other a 60*... Well the Buick got dropped... The Chevy 60* V6 will remain... Hence the reason we have seen the new 3500, and 3900 while the 3800 went through no real changes... The 3800 is pretty close to finished... Not sure how much of a fan i will be of the 3900 Chevy V6 tho... I have heard good things about it tho... Also keep in mind that the 3800 was a 90* design so it was not naturally balanced.... The 60* is a smooth running engine and does not have a balance shaft to help smooth it out... Its just a shame to see the 3800 get tossed to the dust...

I don't think the 3800 will die very quickly, at least in the aftermarket. Wasn't the 350 SBC discontinued for a while? With the reliability, popularity, and availability of replacement parts, 3800s will live on for a LONG time. Heck, we're just scratching the surface of their power potential, as evidenced by the new 1/4 records set recently.
