Default funny noise???

Hey guys, theres a pump of some sort kinda below my air intake/filter. Next to the wiper fluid reservoir. I was working on my stereo this weekend, and every 10 mins or so, it would start up and make a grrrrr sound and shut off. what the heck is it?? what does it do??

Thanks!

jeff

sounds like an elc pump, which airs up the back shocks. you happen to have an inflater in the back too?

It'* neither. That'* the PMV assembly for the ABS and Traction control doing a self-test on the pump. It uses pressurized brake fluid for traction control.

I have no idea what your issue is. However, this is SOOOO ironic!!

1992 Buick Park Ave- named "Jerry" (as in, only geriatrics drive these things...)
That'* exactly what my 94 88 Royale is nicknamed too! LOL. And for that exact damn reason!!!

Vital, that is awesome!! Geniuses think alike i guess...

It turns out it is the automatic leveling pump- is that the PMV? I noticed it so much, cause i was in and out of the trunk so much workin on stereo stuff... My boss said its prolly pretty expensive if it goes bad and has to be replaced...

Thanks guys!

I thought you said it was BELOW the airbox? The ELC (leveler) pump is between the airbox and the strut tower.
