yeah stock is fine. I keep them on all the time. I never turn em off.

Local ordinances vary widely. The best thing to do is call up your local police department and ask for a publication on the matter. If they can't give you something in writing--or at least show it to you in print, I would run with the stock lights on all the time. Fortunately, Kalamazoo, Michigan has no such law that I'm aware of. Mine stay on any time I turn on my headlights and in the day I just run my fogs with no headlights. Unfortunately for me, my SE has them low and far apart. I wish I had the SSE front bumper, that is truely a great looking setup!

You're alot less likely to be ticketed for stock rather than aftermarket fogs. Most areas use the same rule as brights, which is funny since they won't work when the brights are on. The idea is that if they're low to the ground, the light is less likely to reflect off the moisture droplets in the fog and reflect back to eye level. That'* why high beams are so bad in the fog....they're mounted and aimed high. I personally never turn mine off, and just did a 1300 mile trip this weekend without a sideways glance from a cop.
